Dog trainer training a reactive dog

ABOUT ALLI

My name is Alli Berry, and I own and operate Thrive Canine while also practising as a full-time technology lawyer. I have been training dogs since 2016 and operating my business since 2021.

I live with three border collies, Cooper (born 2014), Atlas (born 2019), and Flynn (born 2021). Both Cooper and Flynn have severe behavioural problems, including aggression and reactivity - you name it, we've lived it and worked through it ourselves.

Since 2014, I've made it my mission to learn everything I can about aggression and reactivity, not just for my own dogs, but for yours too. I know how isolating it is to have a difficult dog and feel like no one understands them - and it's that gap that I'm here to fill.

My goal is to educate families and the broader community in the "how" and "why" of aggression and reactivity so that we can prevent, mitigate and overcome it together, while prioritising the health and wellbeing of our dogs.

I pride myself on keeping up to date with the latest scientifically proven training methods, and only use force free, humane training techniques tailored to suit the dog and family with whom I am working.

ABOUT HANNAH

I’m Hannah, and I’m a dog walker and trainer dedicated to helping animals live their best life possible. In 2016, I met my sweet, scared little rescue greyhound Maggie while volunteering at an animal shelter. Driven to help her, I bid farewell to my career in publishing and have been studying and working with positive, evidence-informed dog training and behaviour ever since.

My dog training methodology considers the emotions and motivations underlying dog behaviour, which facilitates effective and ethical training solutions for dog guardians.  As your behaviour trainer, I work out the why, then provide you with the how, when and where to address behaviour concerns so that you and your dog can live a happy, harmonious life together. My priority is helping you meet your dogs’ needs in a manner that is safe and enriching to them.

With a background in animal rescue and years of experience in pound facilities, shelters and independent animal rescue groups, I’m passionate about maximising animals’ welfare in all the work I do.

I’ve been operating my own dog walking business (Hello Pup) in the inner-eastern suburbs of Melbourne since mid-2022, providing group park outings, solo and training walks for reactive dogs, and home visits for all manner of species who needed care while their guardians were away. I also ran puppy classes in Elwood in 2023.

I’m currently undertaking a Certificate IV in Animal Training and Behaviour at the Delta Institute, and frequently attend workshops and seminars to ensure my knowledge evolves in alignment with the current body of scientific research on animal behaviour. I’ve also had the privilege of working alongside some of the best trainers/behaviour consultants and veterinary behaviourists in Melbourne.
